Frequently Asked Questions

Appointments & New Patients

1. How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by calling our office or using our online appointment request system. Our team will be happy to help you find a convenient date and time.

2. Are you accepting new patients?

Yes, we welcome new patients greater than 4 years old. We look forward to providing personalized eye care and helping you maintain healthy vision.

3. What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring your current glasses or contact lenses, a list of your medications, and your insurance information. If you are a new patient, completing any available paperwork before your visit can also help save time.

4. How long does an eye exam take?

Most comprehensive eye exams take approximately 30–60 minutes, depending on your individual needs and the testing required. Additional testing or specialized services may require additional time.

5. Do you offer same-day or emergency appointments?

We do our best to accommodate urgent eye-care needs and same-day appointments when our schedule allows. If you are experiencing sudden vision loss, severe eye pain, significant trauma, or other serious symptoms, seek emergency medical attention immediately.

Eye Exams & Eye Health

1. How often should I have an eye exam?

For most adults, a comprehensive eye exam every year is recommended. Your doctor may recommend more frequent examinations based on your age, vision, medical history, medications, or risk for eye disease.

2. What is included in a comprehensive eye exam?

A comprehensive eye exam evaluates your vision and overall eye health. Depending on your needs, testing may include refraction, eye pressure measurement, retinal evaluation, and other diagnostic testing to identify vision problems or signs of eye disease.

3. What is the difference between a routine and medical eye exam?

A routine eye exam primarily focuses on evaluating your vision and determining whether you need an updated prescription. A medical eye exam addresses a specific eye condition, symptom, or disease and may involve additional testing and treatment.

4. Do you treat eye infections and other eye conditions?

Yes. Optometrists can diagnose and treat many common eye conditions, including infections, allergies, dry eye, inflammation, and other medical conditions affecting the eyes. If necessary, we can also coordinate care with an ophthalmologist or other medical specialist.

5. Do you offer testing for glaucoma, cataracts, and other eye diseases?

Yes. Comprehensive eye examinations can include screening for common eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration. Additional diagnostic testing may be recommended when appropriate.

2. Do you accept medical insurance and Medicare?

Yes, many optometry services may be billed through medical insurance or Medicare when medically necessary. Coverage depends on your individual plan and the reason for your visit. Our team can help determine how your benefits may apply.

3. Do you verify my insurance benefits?

Yes, when possible, our team will verify your insurance benefits before your appointment. Please keep in mind that insurance verification is not a guarantee of coverage, and final benefits are determined by your insurance company.

4. What payment methods do you accept?

We accept several convenient payment methods, which may include major credit and debit cards, cash, plus Sunbit and CareCredit financing options. Please contact our office if you have questions about a specific payment method.

5. Can I use my HSA or FSA for eye care and eyewear?

In many cases, eligible eye-care expenses such as eye exams, prescription glasses, contact lenses, and certain other products may be paid for using HSA or FSA funds. Eligibility depends on your specific plan, so we recommend checking with your plan administrator.

We offer expert eye care and quality eyewear for clear vision. Your eyesight is our priority. See better, live brighter!
