About Us

Our practice’s roots in Homestead date back to 1956, when Dr. George Pena built the office that would become a

longstanding part of the local eye care community. Originally shared with another professional office, the building

was fully dedicated to optometry by the early 1970s. In 1972, Dr. Gerald Furnari joined Dr. Pena as a partner.

As the practice grew, the building expanded to include a new optical area, creating more space to serve patients

vision and eyewear needs. Over the following decades, the practice continued to serve the Homestead community

and later became part of American Vision Group. Dr. Furnari retired in September 2025, leaving a

legacy of more than 50 years with the practice.

Today, we are proud to carry this history forward and welcome new generations of patients to our Homestead office.
